Some of the most notable changes in
Hubzilla 4.2 are
Calendar AppThe Events and CalDAV frontends have been merged and streamlined. The Events and CalDAV apps have been deprecated in favour of the Calendar app which now comprehends both.
Reply to commentsIf the feature is enabled from the conversation tools (item drop down menu), it is now possible to directly reply to comments. The timeline view will remain flattened in the Hubzilla stream. In Friendica and Mastodon this kind of comments will appear beneath the commented comment.
AdministrationAn admin option to store photo thumbnails on disk instead of DB has been implemented. This will reduce DB load and size. Also the DB upgrade tool has been improved to provide more info (source code of failed updates) in case of failure.
FederationActivitypub federation has been improved. We will now deal with profile changes on the fly with platforms that support that kind of messages. Also relaying of comments to activitypub servers has been improved. especially for Friendica and Mastodon which support comment relaying.
UsabilityIt is now possibly to reset the profile photo to its default. Also the possibility to remove cover photos has been implemented.

git checkout master your repositories prior to the upgrade.
1. Execute
util/udall from the web root (this will execute git pull for all repositories).
2. There are several DB updates which could take some time (depending on DB size) to complete. Please be patient. If updates fail due to server timeout, you will need to apply the failed updates manually.
3. Install the upgrade info addon (optional). This will show some info about the upgrade to your community members.
