Webpage and Articl App - Permissions

testing the Webpage and Articl App -
I want that selected contacts have the right to publish Articles and Webpages on my channel…
so where ever i could I set a check mark in the Individual Permissions for this contacts … so they should have any permission I can grant in HZ.
Now if this contacts try to publish Articles and Webpages on my channel they have not the ability to set the permissions for this Articles and Webpages – this are automatic set to „Friends“ - even I as admin can´t edit this permissions
Is this the way it is supposed to work or is the configuration of my canal not right?

Your friends can only post to your channel default audience. This is working as designed. You may propose a different design, however implementing it may prove to be difficult. I considered this long ago and it got to be too confusing to describe. Hence I made the rules dead simple. One must take into account which friends can see which privacy groups and which can even see who your other connections are. They may need a special permission added to post to some of your groups like "my family", or "hot girls", or even "my co-workers". So figure out how you intend to deal with this situation and make a proposal. I don't see a lot of check-ins attributed to you so this means you'll also need to champion a developer to do the actual work even if everybody can agree on how to do this without creating a privacy nightmare.

Well, just in case you really trust these contacts, you can give them channel admin permission, then they can impersonate the channel and pick permissions.

Now, are you sure you can't change a webpage's permissions later, when logged in as the channel ? I admit I haven't tested, but it sounds weird to me, sounds like a bug.

Also, I see two non-exclusive ways to sanely improve contact's permissions that may solve your problem :

1. let contacts propose items instead of immediately posting them, and have the channel owner set appropriate permissions when approving those.

2. let the channel owner set different default permissions for specific contacts.

I guess both could be implemented as add-ons.

this says it all.
I was expacting that i would work different from that, that’s way I check-in all options after trying some time just selected ones.
So I did what I never did before and check also „Can administer my channel“ and noticed no difference. What actually does this setting? I have not fount out yet.

Actually i´m testing the case how I could share the administration of a channel with two contacts

if you have the permissions „Can administer my channel“
you will see in the "Channel Manager" - this canal as "Delegated Channel"
if you choose than this channel it´s like as it would be yours...

There are a few things that delegated channel administrators cannot do. They can't change your password or delete your account or access any of your other channels, for instance. But there's still quite a lot that they *can* do.

I created a permissions table to help !Disroot Community users. I've read the help page and ahve spend a long time testing each permission for each channel role.
I would love to have some feedback, to see if I didn't do any mistakes or if you have idea to improve this work.

Very good explaination. That help me to understand the new role federation that I did not understand before.

Federation can receive private message and comment from all not only from my conection list.

kris and Haakon: When I'm completely done, I will share it in a more open format. I actually did that on ethercal so I can get it in .csv, in html or in excel (ethercal doesn't export in .ods for some reason)

@meaz Very helpful cheatsheet, thank you! I'd like to link to this image (or html page if it appears) on a website. So I'm very interested in a link that will not break in the future. Can I safely use the link to this image? Or, perhaps, will you consider creating a git repo somewhere? Then you could continue updating the files and still not change file name / path, so they're always accessible.

@lightone You can download the image and add it here somewhere you're sure it won't be deleted if you want.
As soon as I have more time, I'll convert it to markdown and add it on gitlab.

Then you could continue updating the files and still not change file name / path, so they're always accessible.

To do this, I think it could be convenient on Hubzilla to publish it as an Article :

It is a good format for important content to endure over time
You can create by yourself an easy to record and short url for it, suitable for easy sharing
Modifying/updating the content doesn't alter the url
